    TENSE AMMETERS

An ammeter is connected to the electric circuits and measures the current intensity on a circuit. It is connected in series. Since the internal resistance is extremely low, the current can easily flow and measurement with high success is possible.

It is also known as a current measurement device. This equipment is important for the health of electric circuits and electronic devices. The device monitors and shows the loads or the current values drawn by the loads. Thus, the high or low currents can be identified when necessary to take precautions.

It is shown with the “A” symbol on circuit diagrams. The measurement unit is “Ampere”. Mostly, there are models that show mA (milliampere) and A values.

    What Are Ammeter Types?

Ammeters have different types depending on operation principle, indicator type, measured current type, measurement type and position.

For operation principle: moving-coil, moving-magnet, electrodynamic, rotary iron and thermal.

    • For indicator type: analogous and digital
    • For measured current type: DC and AC
    • For measurement type: monophase, three-phase
    • For the location: portable, fixed

    ammeters can be found.

    DIGITAL AMMETERS

Digital ammeters show the measurement results on digital screens. These models have significant advantages compared to analogous models. The most important one is to decrease the reading errors after the measurement. Since the exact measurement value is shown, a reading error is almost impossible.

Energy consumption is low and it is not affected by electromagnetic fields. On contrary to these advantages, the purchasing and repair costs are higher. However, there are few device failures.

Things to Consider in Ammeter Selection

When you choose the ammeter you will use on your circuity, you need to consider the current type and the amplitude to the current you will measure. The maximum measurement value must be higher than the current you will measure.

Measurement sensitivity is again an important factor. If you will make a measurement for a circuit that is sensitive against current differences, you need to choose an ammeter with the same sensitivity.
