Green Energy: Renewable Energy Sources

As our high impact on the environment is revealed, the topics such as green energy, sustainability and renewable energy sources and transition to this energy type become more important.

What Is Green Energy?

Green energy is an energy type from unlimited sources and exactly matches the renewable definition. Therefore, renewable energy sources include any energy from the sun, nature, soil or water.

The search for green energy or renewable energy for a sustainable future isn’t a new phenomenon. Each source with unlimited source and generates electricity without damaging the nature or atmosphere is called a renewable energy source.

Today, more efforts are put into electricity generation from different energy sources and a sustainable energy generation model.

Fossil fuels that are projected to run short in 50 years and have high damage to our world are about to be replaced with the unlimitedness of green energy.

We have warmed our planet enough with fossil fuels. Green energy is the best way to provide energy to humanity without intervening with the functions of our planet.

What Are Green Energy Types?

Solar power, wind power, tidal power (in oceans), geothermal power and biomass are called the green energy types. Green energy has various usage areas from small-scale individual use to large-scale industrial use.

Solar Power

The amount of 1-hour sunlight on the world’s surface corresponds to slightly more than 1-year energy need of our planet. Although the sun looks like the perfect green energy, the energy amount varies for geographic locations, time of the day and seasonal factors.

The number of solar fields in our country and around the world continue to increase especially in the last 5 years. This is one of the best examples of green energy both for industrial and individual use.

Wind Power

Wind power is one of the amazing energy sources used as a clean and green energy source. It is possible to generate electricity by using in windy areas and the usage of this green energy source is increasing in recent years since it is unlimited and continuous.

The number of wind turbines in Europe, Asia and America are increasing every year. Using wind power among renewable energy sources continue to be a popular choice among the countries.

Geothermal Energy

Geothermal energy uses the natural heat under the surface as a green energy type. This is one of the ideal green energy sources both to heat the houses and generate electricity. This green energy type is commonly used in countries especially with volcanic formations. Electricity and heat are the generations with geothermal energy in certain parts of our country and the search for new sources continues.

Biomass Energy

Biomass can be called “green energy” if the facilities are carefully managed. This green energy type releases energy by burning solid plant and tree remnants as well as organic agricultural waste. There is a certain amount of greenhouse gas emission in biomass. However, the emissions are significantly lower than fossil fuels.

Tidal Power

This energy type is based on a system generation energy by using oceanic tidal wave that occurs two times per day on turbine generators. Since tidal waves are not constant, low and high energy can be generated at predicted times. Tidal power becomes a popular renewable energy source in countries with ocean access.

Results

In this period with accelerated steps against climate change which is one of the most important problems in today’s world, green energy shows us that we need to give up on fossil fuels faster than ever. We need to state that the best way to make our planet better with the changing technology around the world is the fact that we need renewable energy sources or green energy.
